Why we price by the checkpoint, not the guard
Most guard tour software is priced per officer or per device, which punishes exactly what small sites do: a rotating cast of part-timers, relief staff, volunteers and fill-ins. A church with twelve volunteers on a rota, or an apartment complex where the porter, the maintenance tech and a contract guard all walk the same round, would pay for every one of them.
PatrolBadges counts the places that get patrolled instead. A checkpoint costs the same whether one officer scans it or thirty, so you can add every person who might ever walk a round. Archived checkpoints don't count, so a seasonal route or a finished fire watch costs nothing between uses.
What a patrol of your size costs

|---|---|---|---|
| 5 | Free | $0 | $0 |
| 10 | Pro | $9 | $0.90 |
| 15 | Pro | $14 | $0.93 |
| 20 | Pro | $19 | $0.95 |
| 30 | Pro | $29 | $0.97 |
| 50 | Pro | $49 | $0.98 |
| 100 | Pro | $99 | $0.99 |
| 200 | Pro | $199 | $1 |
For comparison, guard tour apps that publish prices typically charge per officer or per device every month, and wand systems add hardware up front. See what guard tour systems cost for real published prices side by side.
Frequently asked questions
How much does PatrolBadges cost?
Free for up to 5 checkpoints. Pro is $9 a month for your first 10 checkpoints, plus $1 a month for each one after that. Officers, routes and scans are unlimited on both. Every feature is on both plans.
Is there a free plan, or just a free trial?
A free plan, not a trial. Up to 5 active checkpoints are free for as long as you use them, with unlimited officers and every feature. You can also try a bigger setup before signing up: the demo you make on the first screen has no checkpoint limit, and if you sign up with more than 5, you choose Pro or pick 5 to keep free.
Do officers or users cost extra?
No. Officers don't have accounts at all: they scan with their own phone and type their name or PIN once a shift. There's no limit on how many officers, routes, rounds or scans you have.
What counts as a checkpoint?
Each place with its own QR sticker or NFC tag that's active. Archived checkpoints don't count toward your plan, and you can restore them, with their history, whenever you need them again.
Is there a contract or setup fee?
No. Pro is billed monthly, and you can cancel anytime from Manage billing. There are no setup fees and no hardware to buy: stickers print on any printer, and NFC tags cost well under a dollar each if you want them.
What happens if I stop paying for Pro?
Nothing is deleted. If you have more than 5 active checkpoints when Pro ends, scans pause until you renew or archive down to 5, and your history and reports stay where they are.
Is there a discount for a short fire watch or a seasonal route?
There's no need for one: Pro is month to month, so a fire watch that lasts three weeks costs one or two months, and you can archive checkpoints between seasons so they stop counting.
Start free. Pay only when the patrol grows.
Add your checkpoints and scan one from your phone, right off your screen. No card, and sign up only when you're ready to keep it.
